The debut release from Sydney hip-hop/funk/soul supergroup Upfunk Creek, featuring lead track 'One Word' as heard on triple j.
Upfunk Creek burst onto the live scene in mid-2006 with a unique combination of Hip Hop, Funk, Jazz, Reggae and Rock and Roll.
Upfunk Creek is an Aussie supergroup of sorts, bringing together members of popular local bands including Valhalla, super FLORENCE jam, Horrific Scenario, B Room, Projectile Funk, Solo Artist, Mike and the Magic Tones, Jazz Connection and LazRose.
Upfunk Creek features the lyrical genius and engaging delivery of frontman Jamie Beaton, the musical entente of guitarist/vocalist Grant Arthur, salivating grooves from bassist Gene Taylor, slinky tones from keyboardist Laura Altman, slithering skin patting from drummer Mike Solo, and the brilliant, mind-blowingly endearing cuteness of horn players Richard, Steve, Matt and Justin. Ooh baby.
Upfunk Creek rose to prominence on the back of their first ever gig at the Synergy Centre at Lane Cove, bringing the house down with sun-drenched funk and lightning-fast rhymes, before leaving the capacity crowd with a smile and a hum.
Since then, they have featured gigging across Sydney, including winning the 2006 Fitz Band Competition.
Stay tuned as the creek prepares to flow your way ...And be prepared to dance yourself stupid cos when the Upfunk beat starts, your feet just don't stop!
The band is currently on indefinite hiatus whilst members pursue other projects (see: The Splinter Orchestra, Dream Cities & more).
